The Lake Travis Independent School District recently broke ground on its seventh elementary school, which will be located at 4219 Bee Creek Road in the 1,800-acre Rough Hollow master-planned community.
The elementary school will be 103,000 square feet and will accommodate 850 students in the Lakeway area. The property is a 12-acre site that is valued at $1.1 million and was donated by developer Legend Communities. The future elementary school is valued at $29.3 million. It was designed by Pflueger Architects, and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors will build the school, which is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2020.
The school is being built as part of a $253 million bond that voters approved in November 2017.
New School Boundaries
With the Rough Hollow elementary school opening in 2020 and Bee Cave Middle School opening in August of 2019, Lake Travis ISD is in the process of realigning its attendance zones and has formed a School Attendance Zone Advisory Committee that will begin work in February 2020.
The committee will begin its work following a new demographic update that will be presented in January. This report will “assist the committee with the realignment of current school attendance boundaries that will accommodate growth in student enrollment,” according to the district.
Attendance zones will be announced by the end of the spring 2019 semester, prior to summer break. Taking into account a moderate growth scenario, Lake Travis ISD is expected to grow to approximately 15,000 students by 2028.
